Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Manager, North America Strategic Planning will lead and support cross-business initiatives, provide strategic advice to senior management, and help coordinate alignment and synergy across North American subsidiaries. Key activities and responsibilities include:
* Leading and participating in CEO projects and corporate strategy initiatives spanning growth, go-to-market, and operational performance enhancement by directly scoping, initiating, planning, leading, and executing strategy projects
* Organize and coordinate internal and cross-organizational projects, synergy initiatives and workshops
* Analyze subsidiary and competitive business performance from a market perspective and develop strategies and tactics to achieve and sustain market leadership
* Provide in-depth strategic insights/foresights and thought leadership on electronics industry, channel, and consumer trends to CEO and top management
* Develop business cases and strategic options based on industry insights, internal capabilities, financial models, ROI analysis to support planning initiatives.
* Facilitate mid-to-long term strategy for sales and marketing in North America
Common Essential Duties & Resp.
Strategic Advisory
* Key Issues Monitoring: Provide CEO timely and insightful weekly update on key business issues, implications and recommended action
* NAHQ Strategy Support: Offer ad-hoc support, analysis, and recommendations for CEO and NAHQ senior executives in response to strategic developments internally and externally
* Division Strategy Support: Serve as advisory resource on strategic direction and planning for division based on cross-divisional and / or strategic (multi-year) nature of projects
* External Expertise Facilitation: Initiate, plan and facilitate expert networking and luncheon series of external resources on relevant topics for NAHQ / SEA
Strategic / Growth Initiatives
* Growth: Lead identification and pursuit of new sources of growth for NAHQ and SEC, including web-centric businesses, whitespace opportunities, emerging adjacent HW platforms, etc.
* Go-to-Market: Provide thought leadership on go-to-market strategies for emerging categories, including channel promotion, positioning, org R&R etc.
* Business enhancement: Lead efforts to enhance existing businesses through strategy modifications
* Mid-to-long term Strategy: Help/lead developing mid-to-long term strategy by working with divisions/subsidiaries
Business Alignment / Synergy
* Cross-divisional T/F: lead and facilitate cross-divisional task forces on key cross-divisional strategic issues based on senior management request
* Cross-div Meeting / Workshops: lead / help organizing cross-divisional strategy conference, meetings and workshops and ensure successful outcomes and follow-ups
Necessary Skills / Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, technology or related business discipline and MBA
- Background of 6+ years experience in corporate strategy, consulting, and/or business development with successful track record for growth and leadership
- Deep knowledge of landscape and dynamics in wireless communications, consumer electronics, and/or IT industries
- Strong understanding of global/multi-national corporations’ organizational, culture, and business objectives with regional focus in North America
- Familiarity with new growth competency areas, including software, web-based services, etc.
- Demonstrated strategic thinker who can turn strategic objectives into practical action
- Ability to efficiently scope and execute concrete strategic initiatives
- Extensive experience in leading and coordinating multi-functional teams with diverse interests toward shared objectives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: information sharing, networking, influencing, leadership, conflict resolution
- Strong sense of urgency and speed to action
- Mastery of Microsoft Office suites, particularly Powerpoint, Excel and Word
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
